I mentioned that to him, and he was aware of a German paper that had been around for some time - I'm not certain that this is the one he was thinking of, since this one is about a year old. He did say that the term "greenhouse effect" is inappropriate, since the main way that a greenhouse traps heat is by preventing the escape of water vapour emitted by plants, i.e. the latent heat of evaporation is retained. Time ran out, because we had to go to a talk (given by me).

I don't know this guy personally, but a couple of years ago he gave a talk in our institute's seminar series.
