Hi Mark

Ratio of upgrades to new sales for NetWare

I don't know the exact ratio, but I will tell you what I know. In Q3 (ended in July 96), total NW sales = 216M, 4.x sales = 131M, and 3.x sales = 85M. I would guess that most of the 3.x sales to be new sales, and you draw your own conclusion on the rest of it.

NW and NT Sales

FY-95 NW sales = 1.0B (19% higher than FY-94)

FY-96
Q1 = 228M
Q2 = not reported because of channel inventory reduction
Q2 = 216M

You can get most of this info from Novell web site at:
novell.com

NT Sales

FY-96 (ended in June) = 1.0B

Note that this number includes both Workstation OS and server sales. Note that NT for workstations doesn't compete with NW. MSFT doesn't breakdown the sales, clearly, for marketing purposes. Most of the articles I read state that server sales is 40% - 45% of total NT sales.

P.S. You didn't give me the URL of the article you referred to in a previous post.

Regards

Salah
