Applying a financial motivation to something that is not motivated by finance is just nutty. Let's ask ourselves - if a guy's motivation is based upon revenge or upon a perceived religious insult, how much money is required to appease them? They will hate you for the insult of the payment, and hate you even more for getting them to compromise their principles. In the mean time, they still have a gun and the money they took from you. They also have the religious insult or revenge motivation. Build local and culturally sensitive health clinics if you want to win the hearts and minds. Everyone appreciates a loved one being returned from the brink.
