When did Obama ever say anything in the campaign about reducing the number of active duty US troops? He didn't, and I didn't mean to suggest that he did. It was my hope and assumption that he would see the long term value of steadily changing/shrinking our military posture to better fit modern day circumstances. Everyone is turning him into a personal Rorschach test and projecting their own wants on his actions. The end result is the majority being disappointed, of course, since everyone can find something they wanted to happen that Obama never campaigned on. This is true. I had assumptions that he could be an extraordinary leader. It's still early, but he's looking pretty ordinary to me.
