Wharfie, the heat radiates out to space. It's carted from the equator to the cold places like Ottawa and points north [and south]. Like the Gulf Stream, carrying heat to Europe, it spreads the warmth around, like a good socialist.

When it's cloudy in Ottawa, it's warm [meaning -6 celsius in January]. Same when it snows. When the clouds clear, the heat is zipping off into space.

Antarctica is filling with ice. It is gaining megatons of the stuff. <"The water is stored at the poles as ice."
As long as there is ice. Since you haven't noticed, I should probably tell you there isn't as much this year as last year, or the year B4.

The northern hemisphere is so filled with goop, it's not surprising if there's some melting there. Fortunately, there's not a lot of ice in the north, other than on Greenland and that will migrate to Antarctica if it melts.

Imagine how improved things would be if the Arctic was a year-round seaway and Greenland was green and pleasantly habitable. Not that there's a shortage of human habitats. But there might be lots of oil under the ice and drilling would become possible.

I recall learning the word albedo decades ago. It was one of those interesting words linked into interesting effects. A worthy word. Al Gore must have invented it about the same time as he invented cyberspace.
