It is from Afghanistan that attacks against this nation were perpetrated, regardless of what you personally believe.
And as Obama stated last night, there was fraud in the original election, and in the run-off, Abdallah Abdallah decided not to continue. Under their constitution that their leadership approved, it was legitimate (although admittedly messy).
But that's why they get to have another election in a few years. Karzai has to earn his election this time and I truly hope that Obama will put more pressure upon him than Bush did.
You can call the election "rigged", but it's more than they will ever get under the Taliban.
And btw, we just had an Afghani admit that he was connected to Al Qaida and was plotting a terrorist attack in this country.
