There is an excellent graph at energybulletin.net

As one can see, while oil discoveries have been declining, oil consumption (or production, since their equivalent) has been increasing. Since the early 1980s, the world has been consuming more oil annually than it has been discovering. In other words, the world is living on borrowed time.

But what should most concern people is the strong correlation between oil consumption and population growth. A graph showing the two is available at 321energy.com

What happens to the human population curve if the oil production curve begins to decline?
