Unless you have a signficant storage capacity, it's a pain to store these things for a decade.

Some years ago, when I had my first very modest cellar, I worked out a spreadsheet based on what I would like the age profile of the wines I drank to be and my expected consumption and then figured out how large a cellar would be required to sustain that age profile, assuming one bought wines when released. The result was staggering.

And, that was assuming one made no mistakes! Any time one buys a case with the idea of gradually drinking it over 20 years and then finds it fading after 10 so that one has to drink it faster, it blows the system.
