I hope Obama will course correct and get back on track...but let's just say that I'm less than impressed so far...Obama is better than GW Bush (but then again, most new presidents would be)...I'm trying to keep an open mind about Obama's decision to escalate the war over in Afghanistan -- but he still has NOT made a strong case to me about why it is absolutely mission critical to be over there...and when we see record numbers of unemployed in the United States and rising poverty in OUR COUNTRY it sorta becomes reckless to spend over $100 Billion/year on a war over in the mountains in Afghanistan -- let's do nation building AT HOME and lead by example...Let's spend tens of billions making our country a better place to live and invest HEAVILY in a new green technology economy...What if a wise advisor (like a Bill Moyers) told President Obama you can spend really aggressively on a war of choice OR on preventing Global Warming from becoming much worse...but you can't do both of those things in a meaningful way...Life's a series of compromises and I will live with a little less security if we really reduce our footprint over in Iraq and Afghanistan. I'm not a big fan of supporting the ultra powerful Military Industrial Complex -- it continues to be Boom Times for the Halliburtons, the Raytheons, and the Blackwaters of the world.
