I'm beginning to think there was something to the suggestion that some viewed him as some sort of Messiah... this idea he would come in and fix everything with a lil magic spell is amazing at time. That America almost universally wanted to go to Afghanistan and when we didn't just do our quick strike then leave, all was quiet. There were a number of voices raised about Iraq, sadly to no avail, but once we were there, Afghanistan was simply forgotten not just by Bush etal, but by most of America. a lil interest started with the slowdown of news from Iraq, but the real interest didn't start until the request for troops. I think Obama has laid out a decent plan and with all the time spent talking it over, I trust he has been shown a stategy that might just work. we'll see. back to Messiah... those closest to Jesus almost to man turned on him to an extent because they expected a dude with a sword who would banish the Romans. What they got was... just what he was, but he was pretty cool. might just be a myth, but there is a lot in the story to chew on.
