The plain fact of the matter is that if we bankrupt this country in our effort to bring Democracy to the rest of the world and to crush every dictator around the world, then we will no longer be a super-power.

If there is no strategic reason for crushing a dictator or bringing a democracy to another country, then we shouldn't be there in the first place.

Otherwise (i.e., the point has national security implications for the United States), cost is not and should not be a factor.

Your confusion on this matter stems from the fact that you believe the current wars are about imperialism rather than national security, which, of course, isn't the case.

Both of the current wars were fought solely to protect American interests. For this reason, the cost of those wars is totally without relevance to the decision making process.

If your family's lives were threatened and spending enough money could protect them, you would spend as much as you needed to to protect them. Protecting American interests and lives is the most legitimate function of the federal government.

You can find the money for a wasted trillion dollars on stimulus but not for the defense of our nation? What kind of f*cked up priorities are those?
