Now why did I know you'd know that?

Cause I'm old, and remember such things but not what I did five minutes ago.

I'm very curious about the tradition of statues of mounted warriors. Thanks for relating that.

When I was 13 my family took a trip through the South, where my Dad was born and raised and I was born. I was a true blue Yankee by then, having grown up in Montana.

We visited a couple of Civil War battlefields, where all the statues seemed to be of Southern Generals. I thought that was very curious.

Now I know enough about the South to know that, slavery not withstanding, not everything the North did was morally superior.
