What faster way to get jobs here in America than infrastructure?

If you equate investing in our infrastructure with building/improving roads, you are right. We can pass a bill and have millions of jobs generated by next summer.

However, I dont think that is necessarily the kind of investment that would give you the best bang for the buck when you are talking about improving our competitiveness. If the best investments are things like a national broadband network, a revamping of our national energy grid, or a massive move towards renewable energy, these kinds of investments would be taken over a number of years. Yes, jobs would be generated, but if that happens in 2014, it is an absolute lifetime away to a politician. The primary goal of any "jobs bill" would be to create jobs within the next 12-24 months so long-term investments would tend to get short-shrift.
