I don't know about anise, but I often find licorice flavors in Nero d'Avola wines from Sicily. They seem to be getting a lot more distribution lately and they are very reasonably priced. Grenache is another variety where I tend to find it, especially in Spanish "Garnachas". I don't know how useful it is to name specific wines. With the distribution system being what it is, wines that are in my market may not be in yours. For example, this is a Spanish Tempranillo blend I had recently that had some lovely licorice flavors (I suspect there was grenache in it, but the bottle didn't say). A great value in the mid teens, it would probably benefit from another year or two in the bottle. However, wine-searcher doesn't show it in your neck of the woods: wine-searcher.com One that may be more widely available is the Terre Valse Montepulciano D'Abruzzo. I drank the 2006 a while ago, and it had a pronounced licorice (I call it "Twizzler") flavor.
