My guess is that everyone here has had either a friend or a relative that has or had serious issues with substance abuse. Be it alcohol or pills or whatever. I have been in the position of managing people for 25 years. You dont deal with 10 - 20 direct reports without knowing a few people who have serious problems with themselves or within the family. It is one of the reasons I bristle when you all glorify pot. A person I know spent months finagling a good job for her son pulling some strings. This 27 year old lost the job on day one because he tested positive for pot. This after he had 30 days notice, He said he was too bored one day so he used. I would never hire a pot smoker knowingly. A heavy drinker neither.
