SHIVERING Brits are having to BRRR-AVE the cold as freezing conditions grip the UK today.
The country was plunged into a deep freeze last night as temperatures fell below MINUS EIGHT.

The worst hit were parts of Scotland, the North East and Oxfordshire — which all plummeted well below freezing.

But winter woollies will soon be replaced by umbrellas as the body-numbing chill makes way for rain by the end of the week.


Chilly ... freezing weather grips BritainStephen Davenport, senior forecaster with MeteoGroup UK, said: "It won't be as cold tonight, we have some rain coming in from the west that will be preceded by some snow on higher ground in mid and north Wales, the north of England and parts of Scotland.

"But it will soon turn to rain because there is milder air moving in."

The freezing weather comes after Britain was drenched by one of the wettest Novembers on record.

Flood-ravaged Cumbria's 58-year November record of 267mm (10.5in) was smashed in 24 hours earlier this month, with the total now more than 316.7mm (12.4in).

And with more wet weather to come, the Environment Agency has issued 28 flood warnings with 17 in the North East.
