Higher survival rates means that those who do get diagnosed have longer to live.I agree it's an important metric. I am guessing that this does no include those people that do not get diagnosed at all.
Also the question comes up why the life expectancy is lower in the US despite earlier diagnosis (?), better treatment (?) -higher incident rat of life threatening diseases in the US? Why?. Obviously there is more than one metric to look at.
