Yes, I think we should legalize all those things. Because fining and throwing in jail junkies, coke heads, and tweakers is not an effective use of resources, either. With all the money spent to stop those things, they continue to be available. Anybody who wants them can get them, with a little effort.

In Portugal, making all of those things legal resulted in a net decrease in drug use, in addition to saving a lot of money for the government, reducing the overall crime rate, and allowing law enforcement personnel to concentrate on catching serious criminals.

I think it's a fine idea.

I, for one, would love to see the Columbian and Mexican drug cartels put right out of business, which is just one very beneficial thing that would immediately happen if we legalized, regulated, and taxed drugs in this country.
