In my personal view, what so-called "inflationist" bears and
"deflationist" bears really clashed about was not the fact that
the credit bubble will collapse. Rather, it was the actions of
the government and the Fed following this collapse. I would
say inflationists and gold bugs got it right big time
That despite the fact inflation SO FAR remains subdued. BWDIK?
That said, some hard core deflationists insist enormous
monetization during a credit collapse cycle will not lead to
inflation. They will be proven wrong, IMHO. As a gold bug, I
am firmly in "inflationist" category - and, most certainly,
what transpired in U.S. monetary policy this past year
has enormously exceeded my expectations. But, having said that,
such drastic shifts were not known ahead of time, although
the system and the government/Wall Street connection and
corruption proved to be more rotten than I anticipated.
Big credit to those who called it in advance. They were
dubbed "conspiracy theorists" and "nuts" before it actually
happened.
