It is very difficult for me to comprehend how these people -- from RW to Paul Krugman, and even many conservatives -- can just work on the assumption you can spend your way out of a depression. It really doesn't even make good economic sense.
Consider that in the context of the Great Depression, which was prolonged by massive government spending, and it is just astonishing we're on this runaway train of wild spending.

When you borrow money there comes a day that it has to be paid back. And when that day comes, it is like working twice as hard to repay the loan and stop living on borrowed money at the same time. I hate to dump that on future generations, but that's precisely what they're doing.

This spending of TARP money that has come back and was SUPPOSED to repay the original debts is probably the most egregious slopping at the hog trough I've seen in my lifetime. These congresspeople who do this ought to be tarred and feathered.
