You are right on. Investor psychology changes as they put money on the line, and have doubts of their decision if thing go the other way.

My views below might be very foreign to you all. But read carefully to learn the essence of the stock market.

You all know that when you place an order to buy or sell, there is other people on the other side called Market Makers. Other than being the exchange using a trading account, MMs have an investment account just like we do to profit from market moves. But these guys control the market moves largely, and they long or short stocks to their advantage all the time.

Therefore, MMs acts in competition with investor in the stock market and to make a profit out of it. They have the power to raise or drop prices UNILATERALLY. As oppose to the conventional view of buying causes upward pressure in price and the opposition does the other, MMs can adjust prices according to their objectives.

See my posts in JBIL (as early as #900s), you can get detailed info on how this works and how MM uses price to psychologically play with your head and make you worry about you investments.
