He's probably lying. Market in theory hit 69 at Tues opening bottom, but you had to be on the floor to get it. I got another K of CSCO at 73.5 and did damn well to get at that price.
Dell by the way is up to no good. I bought at avg. price of 45 and thought long and hard before blowing out at 91 recently (yes well below the peak price, unlike many/most around SI I actually tell the truth). PC demand while strong is not rising, probably recently receding other than seasonally strong effects. Much more importantly, the tendency to use Moore's law to buy cheaper, as opposed to more powerful, is very real, at corps as well as consumer. Consumers, many of them, want under 1k, I guess. Corps just want cheaper, well under 2k for power/ w emphasis on networking.
Prior power thirst was based on desire to run an easy, multitasking (task switching) OS with minimal delay. It was/is called Windows. At first it was way slower than Dos. But it was clearly the way to go...multitasking for the power user, and easier to use for the mass user, well truth be told, everybody.
We are there now. Enough power to run Win 95 fast. Guess what, Win 98 is FASTER than Win 95, not slower. Bad for the hardware guys.
Only real current irritations are initial boot up delays, and net speed. Latter not addressed currently. (Great area for investment and I am there.) Former not worth big bucks. Trouble lies ahead near term for whole PC hardware world. Longer term, need for power will re-assert. And there is the assault on the SunW world.
