Although Syquest has killed a number of products in the past, I don't believe this is currently a major issue. Actual and promised upward disk compatibility in the EZ, SyJet and Rocket product lines could take the sting out of obsoleting older lower capacity models.

Protecting ones investment in disks is likely to be a larger concern of today's average Syquest customer. Compatibility with other's drives is probably a smaller issue. If Syquest were trying to create a new standard or compete in the Zip arena, then concerns would certainly be different.
