The situation under discussion is one where a penalty is imposed on someone who doesn't agree with the policy. That's not an issue of consent.

It is in a representative democracy where the rule of law is respected and enforced. And that's our social contract.

This goes back to:

"If the law imposes a fine, then you pay the fine. If you refuse to pay the fine, you can expect to pay the consequences and those consequences are no one's fault but your own."

That's the deal as a US citizen. Majority rule and the consent of the governed to the rule of law. Don't like it? See you in jail or move to Somalia.

Sometimes I think you anti government folks need to take a remedial civics class.
