It depends on the plan. Consumers can choose what they want. Some have prescription drug coverage that others don't have; some have dental, some have vision, some are like HMOs, some are dirt cheap while others cost a little more.

In my county there are at least 35 different plans to choose from, and all provide some benefits that aren't available from straight Medicare (otherwise, people would just stick with Medicare).
