Brian, Thank you for your very kind words and recognition.
As an X supervisor of semi FABs, perhaps you could tell us what this purchase of the Hudson Mass. Fab will mean to Intel. Could you take some guesses as to how Intel's capital expenditures will be effected in 1998, and beyond? Will this be an increase, or decrease from what was planned, had they gone ahead with the Ft. Worth Fab? Were our figures correct in estimating $300 Million in capital expenditures for retooling the plant to meet Intel's needs.
Most of all however, I would like to know why Wall Street has not been exuberant with the INTC/DEC announcement of Monday. When DEC announced that they were suing Intel for patent infringement, Intel's stock went down, as I recall, 10 + points over the next couple of days. In addition, Intel went down another 5 points when Intel announced, the Friday before, that they were delaying the Ft. Worth Fab. I can understand Wall Street's reaction if they believed that the delay was caused by weaker demand. However, this week, as indicated by the link you provided us, we now see that PC capacity will be accelerated. Therefore, why hasn't INTC's price skyrocketed those 15 points now that the two issues have been resolved? Or do you think Wall Street is waiting for this week? Jules |
