trilo: you may be correct concerning Southeast Asia however I am basing my forecast on the larger picture. (The larger Picture being the entire international market place.) My main point is a short term blip will need to be factored into all PC companies having exposure in international markets.

My trip to Rhode Island was excellent. I have been selling APCC for 9 years and have been a direct distributor with them for over 3 years now. My company here in Atlanta just merged last July with a much larger company (MCSC) and my partner and myself have been tapped to grow the power division of our new company which is 144 million in sales with 130 sales people around the country.

Seeing the APC corporate offices and factories for the first time was quite interesting. I found it interesting that the actual factory floors are right in the middle of the corporate, sales and marketing offices. This allows much better control and awareness for all of the company employees.

Like most PC type companies, the company is very, very young in terms of people working for them. This isn't really a negative, just a point of interest. You could feel the energy with the company walking around the customer support center and the factory. The place was humming and the parking lots for all of their facilities were jammed packed (al la Peter Lynch Parking lot theory).

Long term I am extremely bullish on APCC. Short term I predict that the entire PC industry is going to take a hit over the next 3 to 6 months. This will be a buying opportunity for those of you looking to add long term investments to your portfollios.

In terms of Symmetra, this will be the future for my company. I am going to be putting 99% of my APC efforts behind this product. I am under disclosure with APC so I can't give you any of the details except to say that this product, in my opinion is going to be huge. It is going to take time but I am extremely excited about the profit opportunites for APC and my own company. The challenge will be that not many current APC resellers have the expertise to sell at the high level of the Symmetra box. This is good for companies like myself and larger resellers like Entex, Microage, Vanstar and ect... but I don't think initially that this product will do very well with the wholesalers like Tech Data, Ingram and Merisel.

In summary, APC has many wonderful people working for them and they have a extreme dedication to the customer. None of that is new news but having seen it first hand I wanted to reinforce the point.

Speaking to their engineers was interesting because they feel that power protection is going to become a larger growth industry over the next 10 years because of deregulation. They think that the quality of power distribution is going to suffer greatly which will create even more of an opportunity for power protection.

Hope this helps,

Phillip
