irby: clearly, Elder's theories are quite valid, and very informative; maybe specious was too harsh a term, prolix might better describe it. I'm not talking about the theory itself, but the dialogue about acholocism is a little redundant and overdone. I think he should have made his point and moved on. But, then again, maybe he felt that it required that much embellishment and repetition. Still, the best book written so far. What's your take on Cooper? GeneM
