The plumber saw how upset I was and paid for the new carpeting and never sent a bill for the water heater or the work that had to be done to fix the damage of breaking the pipe and installing the new water heater.

That's a smart plumber. If that had happened to me, I'm not sure he would have survived long enough for me to find out he was going to do his best to make amends.

Our furnace installers also drained our two water heaters, which is recommended to flush out calcium. They were very careful and dribbled only a little on concrete, which they quickly wiped up.
