Here in Canada we have built casinos to meet our obligations to our resident aristocracy. Unfortunately that brilliant idea has caused many bankruptcies and an eruption in new social services department to help people with gambling addictions. One woman I know stole from her mother in law to gamble and tried to pay it back by stealing more to make that big win and eventually committed suicide. People now go slotting instead of sledding.
