CPQ's sales in Asia mainly came from Japan, China, Korea.
Taiwan had Acer, Twunhead, LEO,Apollo .... , so people in Taiwan do
not buy from CPQ, but local box makers.
Japan, China, do not have an currency problem so far, and it looks
like China will fight very hard for its currency, because China's
economy is not export oriented, it imports a lot of things from overseas!

Generally speaking there are three type of competitors in the Chinese market, i.e high end PCs from US companies, i.e CPQ, HP, and most of
their customers are governments. ACER, AST (now, Samsung) They are standing at the middle. The rest are local box makers in China with
the lowest price and best local technical support, but not necessary the best quality, they sell to private citizens . If CPQ wants to
have a big share in China ( This market will add another 2 million
customers this year, and 4 millions in 1998) , it has to come out with
low price solution, good local technical support, and the reward will
be huge in the next ten years !!!
