Larry, all, they announced the hold on Lehi before Appleton was FIRED for a brief period- that was early 1996, and the hold on Lehi was a couple of months before the firing of Appleton. (Note that he was definitely fired, and didn't resign- JRS even had some comments about how SA took it like a man.) The ramp up of Lehi was all following SA taking over as CEO. Tyler Lowry's supposed reasoning for the temporary coup was that Appleton had sold some stock and would be fired as a result, so he thought he should get SA out of there and fill in as quickly as possible(?!?); the board member who sided with TL the strongest left about a month after SA came back, and of course TL left about a year later. His rationale (think his last name starts with a K, a bigtime redneck rags to riches farmer) for leaving the board was the fact that both his wife and daughter were diagnosed with cancer. I don't know much of the recent skinny on TL, and would appreciate any knowlege people on the thread might have. OTOH, the resignation/firing of Joel Parkinson fits in better with the timeframe that TB is presenting; he thought that MU was expanding too aggressively and had disagreements with JR Simplot over that fact. He and several other members of top management left at around the same time. The other big disagreements that JP was having with the board related to insider tips from our friend JR Simplot.
