>> Iraq awards oil deals, but no boon for U.S. invaders

It really shows just how paranoid and ignorant the "No Blood for Oil" crowd really was to begin with.

But the important point is what it says to the Iraqi people. I saw a great interview with a 2-star who had been managing the situation in Northern Iraq. He described how as we left the cities, complying with SOFA, the entire nature of the relationship changes. As the Iraqis saw us do precisely what GWB said we'd do, it became clear we weren't there as permanent occupiers.

Iraqis now see that the US invasion was totally about bringing them freedom -- from which THEY benefit as well as the US benefiting.

Now, Obama will try to claim credit for all this. We know. He'll tell us how HE ended the Iraq War. But the reality is he was handed a cookbook recipe with most of the cooking done, and all he had to do what not f*ck it up when it came out of the oven.

All we have to do now is reap the benefits.
