So, climate change deniers, let me get this straight: The same scientific community that has made this country prosperous and strong with innovations like the microcircuitry and telecommunications that power your blogs, the aeronautical advancements that whisk you to tea party rallies and the medical technologies that prolong your life (assuming your insurer covers the procedure) is now scheming to perpetrate an enormous hoax to ruin the American economy?

Nothing shocking here. People who are trained in a particular discipline find it in their interests to promote THAT discipline.

Many, MANY great innovations and engineering concepts have died -- even though its proponents believed in it -- died because the marketplace or other "consumers" didn't have the fervor for the "product" the proponents had. Convincing the consumer that a product is good is at least as important as building a good product.

The climate scientists have the problem of not being able to close the sale. Today, it is becoming more and more evident the science is inconclusive.

As a result you have well-known experts who are presenting a competing "product" to the "consumer", and those guys are winning the argument because the facts appear to be on their side.

While you may have been impressed by a letter to the newspaper, it is a weak argument that can be shot down in seconds.
