XOM: I'm reentering XOM today and intend to up position somewhat if/as stock falls or with purchases of XTO for the conversion into XOM.

I noticed too that the nat gas pipelines seem to have moved today on the XOM buyout news.

Lot of speculative talk now on what nat gas co would be acquired next. I don't see making bets on one or a number of them to profit from jumping in ahead of an acquirer. Too unpredictable, too many companies are possible acquisition candidates, and it may be too presumptive to assume that CVX or COP or somebody else will now be a buyer. OTOH, I remember back in the old days, when somebody (XOM?) decided they ought to diversify and get into the mining business. So pretty soon several of the big oil companies had bought out big mining companies. Although that of course did not work out well for any of the acquirers, it shows there's a precedent for one big oil company to make a big acquisition and other big oil companies to then follow with THEIR copycat acquisitions.
