Good news that the government will make a bit. Big Ben can call the bottom and buy as much stock, preferred shares, and anything else he fancies using freshly pixelated US$.

<Citi not only is returning all TARP funds, but the government is expected to make $13 billion on the Citi rescue effort. It seems the government will be making good money on all bank rescues except AIG and possibly Fannie and Freddie. >

Hong Kong did it with the Hang Seng at about 6000 as I recall in 1998. They made a fortune.

If the Fed then sells or gets loans repaid, they can do it again next time around, maybe sooner than later. My JPM short is going well so far.
