Yousef:

I talked to an AMD engineer who has dissected the PII chip. He told me that he sees no notable difference in AMD process and Intel process. The only difference is that the tungsten vias punctured through the arc TiN layer of the metal line and into the aluminum. The other difference is that Intel uses a nitride spacer at the polygate. It seems to me that these two difference can't make up for all the difference in the speed of the AMD and Intel chips. Thus I have to conclude that it is the design that makes the difference, not the process. Would you like to comment on this? Also please point out the important process layer that makes Intel process superior.
