But, that isn't what has happened. This is clearly a bill of attainder, as has been upheld by the Supreme Court in several decisions.

Here are some other examples. A bill that would make any one who registered as a Republican or suspected of voting or supporting Republican candidates would be ineligible for Medicare/unemployment/SSI etc.

These are illegal because they are bills of attainder. And illustrates why bills of attainder are illegal. They have been often used to punish political opponents.
