Yes, thanks Paul. I had forgotten about Gerber (a nice thought: to be invested in baby food) and I had forgetten completely about the agricultural side. Do you really think some major developments are coming along, there? What I am most interested in is the long-term potential of Novartis, in whether or not it is a company that I can plan to buy again and again on dips and feel good about. I think the major consideration in determining that is the quality and potential of its pharmaceutical AND OTHER BIOTECH products pipeline. Doesn't Novartis own Chiron? I read negative things there. Roche's Genentech gets better press. But, I have no idea just how many biotech divisions and operations Novartis has going, and I don't know enough about the history and research accomplishments of Ciba-Geigy and Sandoz in the past (except that Ciba made Program, which kills my dog's fleas. I'm sure that SHE thinks I should invest, and she's a very smart dog). Keep me posted of any news, and I'll do the same. Tom.
