even so... they seem to be excellent value... i was just kidding about the $20.- it is nice when it can be found, but that does not mean it has to be a limiting criteria.

the best buy ever for me was an obscure chateau in sauternes for $3.99 a bottle (minus a discount for buying the store's entire stock of about 4 cases between two of us)... i do not know why they had it at that price... but the wine was delicious (a dessert wine... not it was not a d'yquem... but it was not bad at all)... as good as (or in some instances much better than) many very reputable trokenbeerenauslesse's or some of its barsac and sautern peers.

i pushed my luck and tried to see what aging would do to it... and lost 4 bottles as it went thin, bad, and undrinkable after a couple of years or so... oh well... but while it lasted i felt very proud of myself for such a find. somewhere i know i have one of the labels and ought to find it as it would be interesting to find what are their wines today....
