Hmm. Well, I think it is a pretty good bill, though not perfect.

But here's the truth. I won't be hurting no matter what they pass. So this is largely an academic exercise in debate for me. However, I do feel for the 30 million uninsured and the 2/3 of bankruptcies caused by health care costs. And I do care about allowing costs to rise unimpeded, which will balloon our deficits. That's why I'd rather see an imperfect bill passed, than nothing.

But probably one of my biggest reasons for supporting it is that it will give the Dems a win and momentum into the next big fight on a renewable energy bill. That's the bill Obama should have started with, but if they lose the health care fight, then they won't get anything passed the rest of 2010 and Dems will lose their Congressional majority in Nov'10, which means Obama will be a lame duck the rest of his first term. That will kill any chance at getting this country on a sound path to renewable energy and that's what I care most about in politics. I'll vote for anyone that will give this country a firm course to renewable energy.
