Dulane, my opinion of this solution is that it is of very limited value. This is a solution looking for a problem. The way it works is that you need 2 phone lines. You run them both in a coordinated fashion at 56K each or 112K. How many people out there are going to want to pay dopuble line charges as it is. While I haven't seen any ISP's offering this sevice, I can't imagine they would openly encourage customers to use twice as many connects as they are using now to double the speed. (You think getting through to your isp is bad now, wait until a lot of people are using twice the number of connects that they are now.) And to do it with specialized ports. They would likely need to charge more, and even if implemented, this solution won't compare favorably with cable modems at many times faster rates and comparable pricing to current ISP rates.

In my situation I would get the cable modem in a wink and avoid the need to have a second line, while getting dramatic access improvement. So that's why I say it is limited value, because I would be gone as soon as I hear that I can get a connection via my cable subscription. I think there are a lot of others that would think the same. As it stands now, they are not too many neighborhoods away right now.

So my take is, this solution, that seems to be offered by both COMS and DIMD, is a really short term opportunity for special situations until a better one is available.
