Hi Eric, still up to your old tricks I see...

I'm just back after diving tropical waters off Fiji; most of it well offshore and well and truly part of the great Pacific ocean. The first thing I noticed; the water was cold, and everyone who had dived in that region for many years noticed it as well. Tropical water in summer, and the temperature was a constant 24 C at all the sites over hundreds of miles apart. 26 C to 27 C would be normal for this time of the year (southern hemisphere summer.) Not a scientific measurement, but real enough for me and the rest of the divers.

The trip was cut short by the arrival of tropical cyclone "Mich". Category 2 and rather early in the season considering the cold water, but that's the "weather"/"climate" for you... It always changes...

Have you read Ian Plimer's "Heaven + Earth" yet.. unlike many he takes the trouble to carefully reference all his "statements of fact" rather than just blandly stating everything he prints as "obvious truths" or "physical laws" when they aren't anything of the sort.
