12/18/09 update
Judging by the decline in Obama's approval numbers, his popularity is way down. But judging by the stock market, our President still has lots of fans on Wall Street. And this week, biotechs also moved a bit higher along with the broad market. At Friday's close, the Nasdaq Composite Index was up 40.73% CYTD, or Contest Year To Date, (vs. up 39.37% CYTD a week ago), while the Nasdaq Biotech Index was up 14.79% CYTD (vs. up 14.09% CYTD a week ago) and the Contest median was up 13.01% CYTD (vs. up 12.21% CYTD a week ago).
There was no change in the Contest's first two slots but MIKE's portfolio took third place from GENE's portfolio. The week's closing CYTD percentages are: RKRW up 113.00%, NIGEL up 84.94%, MIKE up 75.46% and GENE up 63.34%.
At Friday's close, 20 of the 32 Contest portfolios were in the black and 15 of the 32 were beating the NBI.
I've set up an SI Subjectmark for the 2010 Biotech Charity Contest, so early bird contestants may begin posting their portfolios. Please read the contest rules and post your portfolio entries as illustrated.
Have a wonderful weekend biotechies!
