Another minor find at Trader Joe's that was surprisingly smooth and drinkable. Will try it again since I agree with this one:
"A simple wine – lots of tannins – dry and crisp. If you don't like fruit bombs, this would be a good wine for you."
WINE “A” 2006 CHATEAU HAUT-SORILLON Bordeaux Supérieur $8 St. Emilion (Abzac) France This wine comes from a generations-old family estate in the commune of Abzac, only 5 km from St. Emilion, in the Bordeaux region of France. Like most wines produced in this area (the Right Bank of the Gironde River, which splits the appellation of Bordeaux), this wine is predominately Merlot based – in this case, 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Donna An interesting nose of cedar, tobacco and floral notes. Lots of acidity and dusty tannins. Astringent, with dried fruit characteristics, and pepper in the finish. Should go well with food. Jim H A dusty, berry, floral nose. Complex wine with nice body – blackberries and cherries. Very long finish. Slightly tannic. Should age well. Beautiful – rich, without being hot. Mary Dusty fruit aromas. A simple wine – lots of tannins – dry and crisp. If you don't like fruit bombs, this would be a good wine for you. Rob Dark fruit and spice aromas. This wine is reminiscent of the wines from my parent's house when I was growing up – very dry. Would go well with big, flavorful dishes like pasta with a red Ingrid A tannic, simple wine that needs food – perhaps a hearty lasagna or chicken Cacciatore. Mark Blackberry and spice aromas. A big red wine full of fruit, tannin and alcohol . Would go well with food. Linda Pretty color, nice fruity nose. The wine was lacking in complexity and a little disappointing. Bill Spice aromas and a well-balanced, full-bodied, simple wine with with a long, tannic finish. Von Lovely nose of fresh berries, spice, mint and tobacco. Nicely balanced wine. Lovely to sip or, with its tannins and acidity it would be great with food |
