If you have Apple and SGI together you have two losing companies together to make one big losing company in the eyes of the press. Pixar, on the other hand, has done real well in the last year and so has Oracle. So a 4 business merger SGI/Apple/Oracle/Pixar would be great - but it will never happen because of all the suits and politics involved. Also Pixar and SGI are competitors. Also the hardware lines of Apple and SGI don't mesh.
