I watched 60 minutes tonight for the first time in years because they covered the very severe unemployment problem in Wilmington, Ohio, which is near where my in-laws live and where I once considered settling after retirement (It's a beautiful small city). The problem is that the largest employer, an airfreight company called DHL, closed down and laid off 10,000 employees.
The vignette following the Wilmington story concerned the leader of 300 million Orthodox Christians, who lives and operates in Istanbul Turkey, formerly Constantinople.
The irony was that although the Christian religion was literally founded in Constantinople, Turkey is 99% Muslim and affords their Christian element almost no freedom at all.
They showed a document written by Muhammad himself and signed with his own hand in which he promised freedom and protection for Christians. The Orthodox bishop declared that he felt (figuratively) 'crucified' but refused to leave Turkey because it was where he was born and where he wanted to die.
The program then showed a number of Christian establishments that lie empty because of persecution of by the Muslims and Turkish government.
While we were watching this segment, my wife asked why the Muslim religion is the fastest growing in the world today.
I had no answer for her.
It makes no sense at all why a religion as duplicitous as Islam, which denies women equal rights, which teaches hate and revenge, attacks innocent people for no reason at all, flies planes into buildings, and seeks special treatment everywhere, should be growing.
I do not understand this. Does anyone have an explanation???? |
