AT.. Regarding HaleBop... when it was near its best viewing we photographed it with a 500mm lens on a 35mm camera with color film. Then we scanned the film with a 4000 dpi scanner. Then into photoshop and reversed the image so that the black of the sky was white and HB was multi spectral and richly colored. Then used some false coloring and contrast enhancement to arrive at a very sharp looking image we printed out to 400 dpi. The comet occupies about 7 inches by 4 inches across the page... very striking image and was lots of fun in the making.
