I think all scientists that put a theory out there have a duty to support it with data. Both for an against a theory.

I'll grant you this, though. Some of the hockey stick charts I've seen are created using a 1970-2000 baseline to show that post-2000 years continue to warm. That to me is a little bit of a manipulation. What I'd rather see is for these charts to calculate mean temperature, as well as the upper and lower control limits (mean +/- 3 sigma), over the ice core sample time period, and then chart the temperature anomalies over that period of time to see if there is a warming trend. That would be a pretty good indicator of whether or not something crazy has started happening in the last century.

If I see any study that does this, then I'll post it.
