<traders seem to make poor and short lived INVESTORS ... may want to give some deep thought as to your predilections and goals before attempting any transformation.>

And yet, dabum -- from whom I've learned so much about trading -- seems to be making the transition fairly well.

But your point is well taken, so perhaps I should fill in a bit more background... during the bubble bull runs, I was strictly a long term B&H investor -- seldom held for less than a year and had some positions for over 10 years or more... when extreme volatility appeared, I transformed about 1/3 of my PFs into trading... seemed to work well having a combo of both LT positions as well as swing trades... very rarely held any position for less than a week even when trading, and actually tended toward holding periods longer than most traders.

I have been trying to build a blend of styles across all my PFs, trading some, LT B&H some and hedging some. I think there is some benefit from each, though I admit I am working it out on the fly and keeping relatively high available funds so that I can adjust as needed without being forced to liquidate any position unless I want to because I've come up with a clear plan for those funds.

Don't know if any of the above makes sense in terms of how I've explained it, or even in terms of if it is even a wise course to pursue... but I'm exploring the possibilities.

Thanks for your input... will post if/when I make any decisions, etc.

Jim
